Special Anniversary Portion of the Website Highlights District’s History and Other Fun Educational Resources to Mark the Milestone

Launch of Page Also Provides Residents to Win Water-Saving Prizes

Hicksville, NY (March 25, 2021) – To continue commemorating 100 years of service to the Hicksville community, the Hicksville Water District (HWD) has created a new 100th anniversary resource page on their website. This new page provides the public with access to a repository of historical photos and information, ability to enter promotional raffles for water-saving devices as well as access to download the District’s 100th anniversary historical calendar.

“We are proud of our 100-year history of serving this community and have created this resource to ensure our residents can share in our celebrations while also learning something new about the District,” said HWD Chairman Karl Schweitzer. “This website will be updated throughout the year so we encourage all members of this community to revisit it from time to time, especially to sign up for a chance to win our raffle prizes.”

The visual history portion of the site will display photos of the District throughout the century as well as highlight those who helped improve the District during the same period of time. Page visitors will also have the ability to enter into a raffle, which will have a prize drawing once a month for the next six months with giveaways that include Rain Bird and Hunter smart irrigation controllers as well as new EPA WaterSense-certified Kohler showerheads. All raffle items have been donated to the District and have been collected with the support of the New York Irrigation Association.

“As our community has grown, so has the size of the District and the amount of water we pull from our sole-source aquifer each year,” added Chairman Schweitzer. “Not only will the raffle portion of our 100th anniversary promotions put some water-saving technology directly into the homes of the winning residents, but it will serve to raise further awareness of these devices and their benefits.”
