
Following his reelection in December, Hicksville Water District Commissioner Nicholas Brigandi is set to being his 16th term on the District Board.
Brigandi Starts 16th Term as HWD Commissioner
The Hicksville Water District (HWD) is proud to announce that Commissioner Nicholas Brigandi has been reelected to the HWD Board of Commissioners following the District’s December election. Commissioner Brigandi has served on the Board since 1980 and is set to be sworn in to his 16th term during the District’s organizational meeting on January 13.
“Serving as a Hicksville Water District Commissioner is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I am grateful to my community for electing me to serve once again,” said Commissioner Brigandi. “I am tremendously proud of the great work we do here at the District and I am excited to see what the next three years have in store. It is an honor to have my neighbors continue to put their trust in me to ensure that they continue to receive the best water service possible, and I promise to put their votes to good use.”
With over four decades of service at the Hicksville Water District, Commissioner Brigandi’s experience in the water industry is as substantial as that of anyone else on Long Island. He has played a crucial role in advancing the ways in which the HWD services its more than 40,000 residents through innumerable infrastructure improvement projects and community outreach programs. His hard work and dedication have been essential in helping the HWD maintain its status as one of Long Island’s leading water providers.
Commissioner Brigandi’s dedication to public service goes beyond his work at the Hicksville Water District. He is a Community Council Director as well as a member of the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce, Sons of Italy, Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis Club. In addition, he has been Sergeant of Arms of the Hicksville Fire Department, where he has served as a volunteer firefighter with Engine Company #7 for more than 60 years. He has been on the Department’s Finance Committee, Welfare Committee and Labor Day Parade and Drill Committee, all of which saw him serve as Chairman. Commissioner Brigandi is also past-president and a trustee of the Volunteer Exempt Benevolent Association for more than 25 years. Before retiring as highway maintenance supervisor, he worked for the Nassau County Department of Public Works for 37 years.
