The Hicksville Water District (HWD) recently broke ground on a new water treatment system at its Plant 6 treatment facility on Kuhl Avenue. This project will see new Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) and Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) systems will be installed at the Plant to treat 1,4-dioxane and PFAS. The District currently has this treatment running at 10 of its 14 wells impacted by emerging contaminants. When this project is completed in 2025, the number of treated wells will increase to 12, one of the highest of any water provider in Nassau County.
The District hosted a press conference to honor the occasion, which was led by HWD Chairman Karl Schweitzer. You can view Chairman Schweitzer’s remarks below.
