ALERT — HYDRANT FLUSHING

April 23, 2017

The Hicksville Water District Board of Commissioners would like to inform residents the District’s annual hydrant flushing is underway for the next two weeks. Hydrant flushing is intended to remove potential rust and sediment buildup in an effort to maintain water quality in the distribution pipes.

The flushing program of the District’s fire hydrants will begin at 9:00 p.m. and continue to 5:00 a.m. each day. During this time, water may be discolored, although discolored water is safe to use. If residents experience discolored water, it is recommended to run the cold water in your tub until it runs clear. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience you may experience and if you have any questions or concerns, please call the office at 516-931-0184.
