District moves ahead with capital improvements to Plant #9 on Alicia Avenue

Hicksville, N.Y. (November 3, 2014) – The Hicksville Water District Board of Commissioners announced this week the district will begin replacing eleven pumps at Plant #9 on Alicia Street.  The project, which is part of the district’s annual capital improvement plan, will allow the pumps to return to their originally designed output.  Plant number #9 has a daily pumping capacity of over 6 million gallons and includes a ground storage tank that can hold 2 million gallons of water.  The new pumps will also add improved reliability throughout the system which will aid in fire protection.

“The district continues to proactively invest in our infrastructure, looking for ways to increase efficiency whenever possible,” said Board Chairman Nicholas Brigandi.  “Plant #9 is one of the largest producing plants in the district and is a vital component in meeting customer demand, especially during the summer months.  These pumps will allow us to better maintain pressure and improve reliability.”

The project is slated to begin November, 2014 and is projected to be completed during the early months in 2015.  Homeowners will not see any change in their service or water pressure during the installation process.
